Register today to learn how to make better sense of your money.


The May 12 event, which highlights an extensive financial education effort sponsored by Westchester County government, will help residents deal with various financial issues ranging from managing personal finances and saving for college or retirement to credit, mortgages and identity theft. You will hear from guest speaker Ron Williams, a Paralympic athlete, and then attend two workshops of your choice. 

The forum is being held Tuesday, May 12 from 5:30 - 9 p.m. at the Westchester County Center at 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY 10606. For directions, visit the Westchester County Center Web site.

 

The program will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The event and parking are free, but space is limited. Advance registration is required.


You may register more than one person if everyone will be attending the same workshops.
If you and your guest(s) will be attending different workshops, you must register them separately.

Managing Personal Finances in Times of Economic Turmoil
Do you feel stressed out about paying bills and making ends meet? Does it seem impossible to save for the future? This workshop will provide strategies for managing household finances, including budgeting and saving in these difficult times.
Getting the Most from Your Retirement Savings
Are you confused about what you should you be doing with your 401(k)s, 403(b)s or your IRAs? This session will provide strategies for planning for retirement, as well as managing and protecting your savings and investments in these economic times. This session is geared to people concerned about saving for future retirement, or people already retired.
Managing Your Credit and Protecting Your Identity
This session will cover what people need to know about maintaining a sound credit record, and why it is more important than ever for consumers to be in control of personal debt obligations and credit cards. The session will also offer information on identity theft and resources available within Westchester County to assist residents.
Teaching Your Children About Personal Finance
This session will present tips and techniques that parents can use to help their children learn principles of saving and developing good money habits. The workshop will discuss how you can benefit by getting your entire family involved in responsible financial management.

Paying for College Today - What Does it Take?
Are you a parent of a college-bound student or a student soon heading to college? This session will offer strategies for obtaining financial aid or student loans, and share other techniques for dealing with the challenges of paying for college.
What Homeowners Need to Know About Mortgages and Mortgage Assistance
This workshop will cover information about the current state of the housing market, including what to do if you are a first-time home buyer, if you are looking to refinance a mortgage, or if you are facing mortgage problems.
