Westchester County offers numerous events and workshops addressing financial education topics throughout the year.

Building Your Financial Plan Workshop

Westchester One Stop Employment Center

1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.

This session will provide an overview of basic financial planning tools that participants can use to better manage household finances, including developing a personal net worth and cash flow statement. The session will provide strategies for dealing with decision points that arise as a result of financial stresses and a framework for making realistic decisions. Targeted to Westchester residents who are unemployed or facing a job transition, the seminar is jointly sponsored by Westchester County’s Office of Workforce Investment and Community Capital Resources, a not-for-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides financial and consumer workshops. Managing Credit and Debt and Knowing Your Consumer Rights Workshop

This session will provide strategies that participants can use to manage household debt and credit during a time of transition.  The session will incorporate strategies for paying down debt, managing credit cards, and negotiating with creditors. Targeted to Westchester residents who are unemployed or facing a job transition, the seminar is jointly sponsored by Westchester County’s Office of Workforce Investment and Community Capital Resources, a not-for-profit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that provides financial and consumer workshops. The orientation session will provide an overview of the mortgage default process and help you to understand the potential options and type of assistance Westchester Residential Opportunities provide, as well as, what the mortgage industry is saying during this time of crisis. This session is available three times during this day and opened to new clients only. WRO asks that everyone completes a "Mortgage Default Intake Packet" and bring to the orientation, as well as, copies of supporting documentation. The intake packet is available online at www.wroinc.org or can be mailed. To request a hard copy of the intack packet or register for an orientation session, call (877) WRO-4YOU or (877) 976-4968.
